Jack Besford was presented with a grandfather clock by the Ashington Mineworkers Federation when he stood down as president in 1939.

The inscription reads:

Presented to
John W. Besford
by the Ashington Mineworkers Federation
in recognition of services rendered
as President 1930-1939

The clock remained in the Besford family until 2019, when it was donated to Woodhorn Museum, a mining museum in the former Woodhorn Colliery.
