Born Henry Besford on 6th October 1921, but always known as Harry, he was the son of George Besford and Maud Besford (née Carter).

Harry was born at 87 Runcorn Road, Smethwick, but grew up in Ashington, Northumberland.

He lived initially with his parents at the home of his grandparents, David and Mary Besford at 72 Milburn Road, before George and Maud moved with him to 251 Rosalind Street.

Harry’s secondary education was at Bedlington, after which he went on to study Physics, becoming a Senior Medical Physicist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

Harry married Daphne Sayers in 1950 and lived with her in Solihull. They had two daughters, Penny and Mandy, and a son, Ian.

Harry Besford died at the age of 70 on the 1st of March 1992.
