Robert Besford (1752–1837)
Robert was an agricultural labourer. He had three daughters with his first wife Mary. After her death, he had two sons with his second wife Ann Goodfellow.
Throckrington
Throckrington, now usually spelled Thockrington, is a hamlet in Northumberland about 10 miles (16 km) north of Hexham, standing on an outcrop of the Whin Sill. Its church of St Aidan was built in the early twelfth century and is one of the oldest in the county.
The village itself has gone: cholera reached it in 1847 and the houses were burned, leaving the church and a farm.
