John Besford (1820–1875) was born in Stannington, Northumberland in 1820. He was run over by a train on Stannington Viaduct on 3rd August 1875.

Robert Bestford was station master at Humshaugh station until he retired in July 1928.

Besford railway station served Besford, Worcestershire, on the Birmingham and Gloucester Railway, from 1841 to 1846.
