Robert Bestford was station master at Humshaugh station until he retired in July 1928.
Humshaugh
Humshaugh is a village in Northumberland just north of Chollerford, off the military road built from Newcastle to Carlisle after the rising of 1745. It hosted the first official Scout camp in 1908.
Robert Bestford was station master at Humshaugh until he retired in 1928, and is buried at St Peter’s Church in the village. His son Matthew worked as a motor mechanic at Humshaugh Garage.
