Besfords skippered fishing boats out of Lowestoft in Suffolk.

David Besford was a Lowestoft trawler skipper who in 1985 brought in the biggest landing ever made by a beam trawler at the port.

Skipper of the Lowestoft trawler Suffolk Kinsman, Peter Besford went overboard in the nets during a rescue in 1961 and swam back to the ship.

Percy Robert Smith Besford was Mentioned in Despatches in the 1944 King’s Birthday Honours.
