John Besford (1879–1946)
John Besford was the son of Thomas Besford his second wife Isabella Besford (née Oliver). He died in a mining accident at Hartford Colliery.
Seaton Delaval
Seaton Delaval is a village in Northumberland, England. It is the largest of the five villages in Seaton Valley, and the site of Seaton Delaval Hall, completed by Sir John Vanbrugh in 1727.
The name ‘Seaton Delaval’ was first attested as ‘Seton de la Val’ in 1270. ‘Seaton’ simply means ‘sea town’, referring to the village’s nearness to the North Sea. The land was held by the Delaval family, who took their name from Laval in Maine in France.
George Robert Besford (1909–1981)
George Robert Besford and his wife Isabella Summers emigrated from the UK to Canada in 1947. The family returned in 1949 and lived in Blyth, Northumberland.
