Debby Besford
Debby Besford’s photographs of Norfolk youth culture in the 1980s and 90s are held by the Museum of Youth Culture. She teaches photography in Norfolk and Cambridge.

Samuel Besford was born at Great Yarmouth in about 1822. Debby Besford lives and teaches in the north of the county, and her photographs of Norfolk youth culture in the 1980s and 1990s are held by the Museum of Youth Culture.
William James Besford (1889–1947)
William James Besford, a Lowestoft trawler skipper who helped clear mines off the Belgian coast in the First World War, was lost with the Bucentaur and all her crew in 1947.
Leonard Besford (1798-)
Leonard Besford was a farmer at Hoveton St John on the Norfolk Broads. Born about 1798 at Ashmanhaugh, he is the earliest known ancestor of the Lowestoft Besfords.
Samuel Besford (1822–1889) and Mary Ann Besford (née Chapman) (1833–1902)
Samuel Besford rose from valet and butler in grand households to hotelier, keeping the Three Cups at Colchester and the George at Scarborough with his wife Mary Ann, who was killed in the George Hotel fire of 1902.
John Brown Besford (1823-)
John Brown Besford was a blacksmith, born at Hoveton St John. He married Maria Chase at Caister in 1847 and raised a large family in Great Yarmouth.
Henry John Besford (1850-)
Henry John Besford trained as a blacksmith at Great Yarmouth, married Georgiana Page in 1873 and moved to Lowestoft, where Georgiana died in 1885.
Julia Maria Besford (1875-)
Julia Maria Besford was born at Great Yarmouth in 1875 and grew up in Lowestoft. She is recorded as the mother of Arnott Herbert Smith Besford, father of the skippers Peter and David.
