Robert Besford (1752–1837)
Robert was an agricultural labourer. He had three daughters with his first wife Mary. After her death, he had two sons with his second wife Ann Goodfellow.
Garrett Lee
Garrett Lee is a farm about 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Longhorsley in Northumberland, in the township of Wingates. It was part of the Earl of Carlisle’s estate and was let to tenants on eleven-year terms in the 1760s. Ridge and furrow earthworks beside it mark the open fields that came before, and it is a working farm still.
Robert Besford and Ann Goodfellow were living at Garrett Lee by 1792, when their son Robert was born there.
John Besford (1789–1825)
John Besford was employed as a labourer at Cheviot Farm, Hallington. He married Isabella Wright in 1819 and died before the birth of his third child.
Robert Besford (1792–1844)
Robert Besford was an agricultural labourer. His first wife Isabella died aged 24. He married Mary Marshall in 1821.

Robert Besford married Ann Goodfellow in 1788, two years after the death of his first wife left him with three daughters under eight. They had two children.
