The Besfords in this tree lived in north-east Norfolk and later on the coast at Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, where Peter and David Besford were trawler skippers. The line runs from Leonard Besford, a farmer at Hoveton St John, born about 1798 at Ashmanhaugh. In the early records the name is often written Besfer or Besser. The family of James Besford and Anne Williams of Happisburgh is shown separately, because we do not know of a connection between the two families.
